About Rajasthani Caravan

Authentic Folk Arts of Rajasthan — Live on the World Stage

Rajasthani Caravan is a professional performing arts organization dedicated to presenting the living folk music and dance traditions of Rajasthan, India through high-quality performances, tours, and educational programming. Designed for festivals, theaters, universities, and cultural institutions, Rajasthani Caravan offers culturally authentic work that is both visually striking and accessible to international audiences.

The organization operates through two distinct but connected branches, allowing presenters flexible programming options based on budget, venue, and format.

International Touring Ensemble from Rajasthan, India

The touring ensemble, led by Katrina Ji,  features master folk artists from Rajasthan, representing the communities where these art forms have been practiced for generations. Performances are rooted in tradition while curated for contemporary stages.

Repertoire may include Manganiyar folk music, Kalbelia dance, Terah Taal, Chari, Bhawai, Kachhi Ghodi, Bicycle Wheel Dance, and other regional forms. Programs can be adapted for large outdoor festivals, proscenium theaters, or educational settings.

The ensemble tours internationally under the P-3 visa category for culturally unique artists and is suitable for:

    •    World music and dance festivals

    •    Performing arts centers and theaters

    •    University residencies and lecture-performances

    •    Cultural and heritage events

Program lengths range from 30 minutes to full-evening productions. Technical requirements are flexible and scalable.

U.S.-Based Programs with Katrina Ji

The U.S. branch of Rajasthani Caravan is led by Katrina ji, an internationally recognized performer, choreographer, and educator based in the United States. She is the only foreign artist to have mastered the full range of major Rajasthani folk dance forms through long-term, community-based training in Rajasthan.

Katrina ji’s solo and small-ensemble performances offer a dynamic, theatrical introduction to Rajasthani dance, blending multiple styles with storytelling and cultural context. These programs are ideal for presenters seeking a high-impact, lower-logistics option while maintaining authenticity.

In addition to performance, Katrina ji offers workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and residencies, as well as curated student showcases when appropriate.

This branch is well suited for:

    •    Arts presenters seeking a solo or small-ensemble option

    •    Universities, schools, and cultural organizations

    •    Community engagement and educational programming

    •    Venues with limited travel or technical budgets

Programming Flexibility

Rajasthani Caravan works closely with presenters to tailor programs to specific audiences and venues. Options include:

    •    Stand-alone performances

    •    Paired performance + workshop engagements

    •    Multi-day residencies

    •    Festival appearances or touring blocks

Whether presenting master artists from Rajasthan or Katrina ji’s U.S.-based programs, Rajasthani Caravan delivers culturally grounded, visually compelling performances that honor tradition while engaging contemporary audiences.

"I have worked with Katrina and taught her dance during my visit to Seattle. She is a very talented person, extremely dedicated and sincere at the same time. Such qualities are rare to see in a person and I feel proud to say that she is my student and a dear friend. So impressed I am with her amazing work that I have also written about her love for her art in many of my dance columns that I have in different newspapers, magazines as well as websites. I wish Katrina ji and her school all the best for the future. Keep dancing and keep spreading the light of dance. God bless you"
