Rajasthani Caravan is a powerful live folk band showcasing the electrifying music of Rajasthan, India—driving rhythms, soaring vocals, and centuries-old desert traditions brought to life for modern international stages.

 

At the heart of the Caravan is a master ensemble of hereditary Rajasthani musicians, whose music has been passed down through generations of Manganiyar and desert folk communities. Their performances blend hypnotic percussion, call-and-response vocals, and rare traditional instruments, creating an immersive sonic experience that captivates audiences from the first beat.

 

The band’s high-energy concerts are visually elevated through select traditional dance elements—such as Kalbelia, Terah Taal, and Chari—integrated organically into the musical arc, enhancing the performance without shifting focus from the band’s musical power.

 

 

Led by Katrina ji

 

 

The project is directed and fronted by Katrina ji, a USA-based performer and cultural ambassador who has trained extensively in Rajasthan with the original communities of each tradition. Her role bridges cultures—introducing audiences, contextualizing the music, and performing select dance features—while keeping the spotlight firmly on the musicians and their sound.
